TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER

The SRC operates a Scientific and Technological Information service which identifies, acquires, organizes, repackages and disseminates information in support of the Council's Research and Development Divisions, external scientists and technologists, industrialists, planners, policy-makers, decision-makers, corporate managers, media personnel, students and the nation at large.

Technology Transfer enables individuals, communities and businesses to obtain the know-how in applying a technology to a domestic need or an industrial production. One example is the transfer of anaerobic technology to farmers, householders, schools, the construction industry and other areas of the private sector. Other transfers of technology are in the food processing area, extractions and mushroom farming.

Cognizant of the need to make science more accessible to the public, the SRC will establish Outposts at strategic locations islandwide. An Outpost currenty operates at 34 Market Street in Montego Bay, St. James.

The Marketech Limited assists the SRC to transfer technologies.
