The structure of the Scientific Research
Council
The SRC is divided into six divisions,
namely:
1. Technical Support
Services Division - This emerging division includes
a Pilot Plant, which houses the Food Technology Institute,
and facilitates the development of new products and
processes. It also comprises a Management Information
System unit and provides a wide range of quality tests
and analytical services.
2. Information
Services Division - This division consists of
a Science Education/Popularization Unit, and an Information
Centre (specialized library). It houses the Caribbean
Energy and Information System (CEIS), which is the regional
focal point for the collection, analysis and dissemination
of energy information for a network of Caribbean countries.
The division enables the technology transfer, produces
science and technology publications and disseminates
technical information.
3. Product Research
and Development Division - This division conducts
Applied Research and Product Development. Its functions
incorporate extraction technologies and development
of value-added products.
4. Process Development
Division - This division performs process engineering
and quality management functions. Its activities focus
on optimizing production processes; developing engineering
designs; conducting feasibility studies and the development
and implementation of cleaner productionn technologies.
5. Finance Division
- This division deals with all accounting and
financial matters, purchasing and inventory management,
and the costing of projects.
6. Human Resource
and Administration Division - This division handles
staff related matters (recruitment, personnel issues,
training and staff development, and employee benefits
administration). It also provides direct supervision
for certain administrative support staff.

marketing, business development and communications functions. The activities of Marketech facilitates linkages and
strategic alliances with internal and external customers
to facilitate the development and transfer of technologies. Customer satisfaction through the the delivery of quality
service is pivotal to its market-driven operations. Its communications activities use innovative and interesting
means to disseminate science and technlogy information,
and promote the services and products of the SRC.
